FAMC
Here at Fidalgo Animal Medical Center, we understand that your pet is family, and that when you travel, you want them right by your side. We have USDA accredited veterinarians on staff who can issue health certificates for our established clients’ healthy dogs or cats, so that they may travel with you.

Keep in mind that the number 1 rule of Pet Travel is to PLAN AHEAD! For some destinations MONTHS of preparation may be required!
Pet health certificates are required for pets traveling both domestically within the United States and internationally. We’re happy to assist you with your pet’s health certificate, but it’s important to start early since the associated paperwork can take several weeks to process.

When traveling with your pet you should start planning at least two months in advance for domestic travel and four months in advance for international travel.

Step 1: Head to this website to check current pet travel health requirements for your destination
Step 2: Check with your specific airline here as some have additional requirements regarding pet travel
Step 3: Book a pre-health certificate planning appointment: bring documentation of rabies vaccination and microchip info
Step 4: Book the health certificate appointment (usually within 10 days of travel)

If you are returning to the US following your trip overseas you will want to check the requirements for re-entering the states from where you are traveling. It's good practice to carry your pet's vaccine history, current rabies certificate, and the veterinarian-issues pet health certificate.
